Scripture Readings for a Catholic Funeral
Here is a list of scripture readings drawn from the Lectionary for Mass.
The official selections from the Order of Christian Funerals
have been augmented by additional selections which are
appropriate under special circumstances.
May mourners, preachers and liturgy committees will find this list helpful.

Three Readings
Usually there are three readings. One from the Old Testament, a second from the New Testament (Epistles), each read by a family member or friend. The third, the Gospel reading, is proclaimed by the presiding priest or deacon. The suggested texts are linked to the New American Bible website of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops at: http://www.usccb.org/bible/index.htm
